The Tamron SP 60mm f/2 Di II 1:1 Macro Lens is a medium-range telephoto lens. It functions as a macro lens for Sony A-mount DSLR cameras with APS-C format. There are two low dispersion elements incorporated to suppress spherical aberrations and render a clear output. Consequently, the image becomes exceptionally sharp and distinct from edge to edge. Also, the fast f/2 maximum aperture, along with a 7-bladed diaphragm design, is capable of producing special blurred background image effects.

The Tamron SP 60mm f/2 Di II 1:1 Macro Lens is designed with an image coverage size compatible with the APS-C format sensors and offers a 35 mm equivalent focal length of 90 mm. It features a 9.1" minimum focusing distance and the user can make use of a minimum working distance of 3.9" when taking close-up shots. Being a macro lens, it offers a 1:1 life-size magnification, which makes it a good device for portrait shoots. The minimum and maximum aperture values of the lens are f/22 and f/2 respectively.
The Tamron SP 60mm f/2 Di II 1:1 Macro Lens is of autofocus design with an internal focusing mechanism. It means that the lens elements move internally while focusing or zooming and the overall outer dimensions of the lens remain unchanged. It offers many conveniences in handling and using the lens. Though the design is of autofocus design, a full override feature for focusing manually is available any time for focus adjustments as per the photographer's convenience. The lens uses a filter of size 55 mm (front) and is compatible with various Sony model cameras including Sony Alpha A77 II and Sony Alpha A68. It weighs 390 grams and has physical dimensions of diameter x length as 2.87 x 3.15" (73 x 80 mm). One negative aspect of the lens is that it doesn't have an image stabilization feature included.
